Weekly Reflection: Commercial Illustration - Final Submission
After two bouts of final tweaking to make sure my design was ready for submission I am finally happy with the outcome of my design. I feel it hits the mark well, being that it has an area of contrast to entice the audience whilst still remaining visually appealing throughout its design.
I love how I have incorporated two different environments for the two main characters silhouette's I feel my chosen layout has created the exact impression I was aiming for. The front cover shows the two meeting for the first time which portrays the uncertainty both may have experienced whereas the back cover shows a much more care-free Willie running with the dog Sam, I used this layout within Tom's silhouette to invoke the discussion that perhaps that is how Tom see's the young boy by the end of the book, care-free and wild rather than shy and subdued.
I feel I hit all of the areas I was aiming to with this design and although I am happy with it, I understand that there is a lot more which I possibly could / would have explored had this module been under regular university settings.
Regardless I am happy with the progress I have made, I really enjoyed the process of making a book cover and having to research specific topics. This is a topic I would like to continue exploring in the future, but one thing which may be beneficial in doing so would be to work on learning some typography as this is one of the areas I seemed to struggle with the most.
