Personal Development: 30 Day Challenge - Day 17

Day 17 of my 30 day challenge, the prompt was ‘sister’. For this I wanted to challenge myself by working on the human form using this style. Due to this I came up with the concept of designing a ‘nun’ or ‘holy sister’ as I felt this would accurately portray the designated theme whilst also enabling me to work on a single character.

I’m not too happy with how the face of the character turned out and this is definitely I will need to work on in the future, but for my first attempt at creating a semi-realistic face in this style I don’t feel it is too bad, although it definitely makes the character feel cold and unapproachable which is not what I was aiming for.

Overall I liked working with this theme and love the symmetry created within my illustration although I still have a lot of improvement to be made on my understanding of using human form and lighting properly as the face and hands are certainly the least effective elements of this design. Other than that I think this illustration concept worked really nicely and I’m glad I chose to challenge myself.
