Personal Development: 30 Day Challenge - Day 5
Day
5’s prompt was ‘fresh’, I had many ideas for this theme but ended up using my
idea of fresh mint as there is nothing more natural and refreshing. It is hard
to tell within the scale of this illustration but I had actually created the vein
work within each of the leaves, to add another level of realism to them however
it is clear that this is no longer visible with this reduced resolution version
of the image.
I
really like how these turned out and felt layering the leaves in a bunch of
three would be more appropriate and balanced to the illustration. I chose to
create very heavy lighting on these components which may have been a bit too
intense but I feel it helps grasp the attention of the audience, especially in
contrast to the central yellow detailing.
Perhaps
this design would have looked better if I reduced the opacity of the lighting
as it seems a bit too intense. Not only this, but I am now noticing that the
yellow central detail may have still been visible within the second leaf which
causes it to look slightly less realistic.
Regardless
of these errors I am keen to continue in order to see whether my next attempt
improves. For instance here I used a darker green for the shading in comparison
to Day 2 where I used grey rather than a similar colour. These are all things
to consider within my next attempt.
