SWOT Analysis: Client Commission - Churchill Group

I have been tasked with creating a flyer advertisement and business cards for Churchill Contract Services Ltd which provides a variety of cleaning services.

It was important to ensure the flyer remained professional whilst still being visually attractive and interesting to the audience to ensure they would spend enough time digesting the information within the flyer rather than simply discarding it.

I did this by following the requirements of my client whilst adding some flare to the overall design.

For the business cards, I wanted to ensure they were direct yet maintained the colour schemes of the company in order to create a much more identifiable card. I have had to create a blank version to include in my blog as I am unable to use one of the final business cards as it had sensitive information on it.
Strengths:
I made sure to use the companies branding for the accenting features of both the designs to maintain brand recognition and cobsistency.

I made sure to follow the guidelines provided to me by the client so that we could work cohesively in creating these designs in a time efficient manner. I worked closely with the client to make any alterations throughout the process, making sure good communication skills were used in order to clearly identify what the client was hoping to achieve from their suggestions along with helping to build good customer relations.

Weaknesses:
Although both myself and the client were happy with the outcome for this commission I feel I still need to work on the negotiation element of this process, in order to identify a method which would enable the client say 3 alteration opportunities rather than how I worked during this project where they were able to experiment and refine anything they liked any number of times. This would be just to protect myself to ensure I have a workflow which not only provides the client ample opportunity to voice their opinion and be heard but enables me to focus properly on the main points of issue, without becoming overlaid with minute details repeatedly. A better workflow would also ensure I do not exceed the budget of the project ensuring I am paid for the true time spent on the project.

Opportunities:
I would like to use this opportunity to build a work relation with the company in order to possibly acquire future work from them.

Targets:
I have had my review with the client and they are happy with the work I have completed and so have completed the commission, the images above are of the final illustrated flyers and business cards.

I really enjoyed completing this commission as it focused on the development and publication of flyers and business cards which were ready to be used in a company setting. During this process I was in charge of not only the designing but the financial element as well, making sure I budgeted enough to have the desired quantity of each printed on high quality materials.

I think what I enjoyed most was working in a more graphical sense and seeing my work come to life, due to this I would love to continue exploring this field in the future by continuing my commission based work alongside my university degree in order to help me build and develop the vital business skills I will need in the future. It will also help me understand a professional workflow better whilst enabling me to develop my skills as an artist.
